The palace of His Royal Highness, the Asema Uka at Inirereng-Ogaminana continues to beehive of activities as Ebiras and well wishers from all walks of life paid homage to the paramount ruler. Major Abdullahi Aliyu(Rtd), Hon. Ajoge Enesi Abu and other Adavi sons were invited by the Kogi state Police Command, Lokoja and detained for standing and defending their rights in political marginalization of Adavi people following imposition of chairmanship candidate by APC led government in kogi state on Adavi people. The imposition of chairmanship candidate for the sheduled council was kogi state government strategy to throw Adavi LGA into political turmoil but the intervention of some Adavi leaders to educate and enlighten kogi state government hit brickwalls as history, decorum and peculiarities of the area were jestioned. What is baffling Adavi people uptil today is why a democratic government is obsessed with impunity without regard to the majority people’s view on issues of local and national importance. It is not exaggeration that Adavi people are the most liberal in all facets of human endeavors in kogi central senatorial district. Since the creation of Adavi LGA in 1991, many non+indigenes have held one political position or the other but not the office of the council chairman as elected chairman. Looking at the history of the area, the first Executive Governor of old kwara state, His Excellency, Late Alh. Adamu Attah(of blessed memory) introduced zoning and rotational principles among the five indigenous clans of Adavi LGA. The zoning system adopted was to cement the unity and peace of Adavi people among Upopuvete, Uka, Aniku, Uhuami and Adeika clans. The zoning principle has made politics and politicking less acrimonious as brothers will not be at war with one another. Therefore, successive governments have retained Adavi example which is being adopted by some sister local government areas not to heat the polity for the peace of the people of the area. Adavi people are still grappling with the misdemeanor of the present administration in kogi state for chasing shadow from political reality of the area. As Adavi people are still reeling in bewilderment of infringement on their fundamental human rights through forceful imposition of chairmanship candidate for council pol. This singular act is a crime against humanity as Adavi people have been denied of their rightful position. If the Kogi state government action is not a ploy to throw Adavi LGA into political crisis, the government should give the slot of Okene chairmansjip position to any member of Adehi in Okene LGA. The imposition of candidate by APC led government in is barbaric, old fashioned and anti-democratic tenet which does not promote internal democracy of fair play and participation among aspirants with party primaries at all levels of elections. It is this anti-democratic tendency of APC government that has made elections in Nigeria a do or die affair where vote buying, killing and rigging of elections are the other of the day. It is to be noted that Adavi people will continue to maintain peacefull living inspite provocation to pinch brothers against one another for selfish end of few privilege kogites. In the light of the above, Adavi people will remain resolute to rally round our royal father and others to get out of the hook from the kogi state unjustified persecution as law court will be our arbiter. The Asema Uka continues to receive emissary and goodwill messages from Adavi political leaders and well wishers both at home and in diaspora.
