A Lagos based business man and Managing Director of Derindo Ventures nig Ltd Mr Aderinde Aro has directed his Lawyer to institute legal action against the Nigerian Drug law Enforcement Agency NDLEA Over his Illegal Arrest,33 days detention and Defamatory Publications by the agency without diligent investigation.
The demand for legal redress was made known to news media in Abuja through a press conference by the Kogi born Lagos based business man in which he lamented the inhuman treatment done to him by the drug law agency.
According to him At about 4am, on the 16th October 2022, about 30 armed NDLEA officers invaded my house in ikorodu, broke and damaged 3 doors to gain entry. They arrested and detained me in their office for 33 days with regards to an offence I knew nothing about.
They circulated the news to the print, electronic and social media, that I am a Drug kingpin, with my picture carrying a placard and placing some packages beside me in the picture suggesting that those packages of illicit drugs were recovered from me. They did all these without a diligent investigation.
This action of NDLEA is defamatory, Injurious to my reputation, my business, and my family’s reputation.
After my release, my lawyer wrote the NDLEA for retractions of all publications against me in print, electronic and the social media,
But the organisation replied my lawyer . . . that it is not culpable hence there is no need for retractions.
I have therefore instructed my lawyer to take legal action against Nigeria Drug Law enforcement agency over my arrest, detention, and the Defamatory publications.
Mr Aderinde Aro said he would explore all legal means to get redress
