*Again, Oseni presents bill for ‘Solid Minerals Producing Areas Devpt Agency’*
In order to enhance speedy development of solid minerals producing state in the country, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni has yesterday presented a bill seeking establishment of ‘Solid Minerals Producing Areas Development Agency’ at the Senate.
This is just as his bill for establishment of specialized university, Steel University Ajaokuta was approved by the Senators during plenary yesterday.
The lawmaker who hinted about his new bill amidst jubilation yesterday argued that Kogi State and other solid minerals producing states require special attention and recognition in revenue allocation.
“We are all aware that our dear Confluence State is blessed with nothing less 29 different natural resources in commercial quantities. Specifically, we have coal, dolomite, feldspar, bauxite, iron ore, tar, limestone, gold etc. Each of the 21 LGAs in the state has deposits of at least 2 mineral resources.
“This facts underscores the relevance of this bill which I believe will be of tremendous benefit to the state and beyond.
“Just like the special status, recognition and allocation that always accrue oil producing states in the federation, my bill for ‘Solid Mineral Producing Areas Development Agency’ will address such issues and other related matters”, he said.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that the bill when sign into law, will be of tremendous benefit to the economy of the states and country in general.
