Be spiritual, live up to responsibilities – Bishop Okuyelu tells fathers
The need for fathers to be spiritual and live up to their parental responsibilities as heads of their families have been stressed.
The Bishop of Ijesha North East Anglican Diocese Osun State, Rt Rev’d Akorede Okuyelu stressed this during the first session of the 9th Slsynod of Anglican diocese of Kabba, Kogi State.
According to him, all fathers should emulate father Abraham by teaching, rebuking and correcting their children in Christian way.
Okuyelu who said the theme of the 2020 synod ,” the priesthood of fatherhood” was apt and timely being still in the mood of fathers day celebration, noted that fathers who cannot stand as their families’ priests are worse than infidels.
He noted that unfortunately, some fathers do not show concern on good upbringing of their wards and hence do not cater for their needs.
This, he said, is responsible for waywardness of many children who engage in cultism and other vices.
The cleric therefore admonished fathers to always provide for their kids, adding that they should be righteous, correct their wards with love, be prayerful and ensure they have alter for God at homes.
