The chief of staff to the Executive Governor of kogi state, Pharmacist Jamiu Abdulkarim Asuku has urged the teeming youth of the state to take their studies seriously,stating that being poor was not an excuse for failure.
The humble and unassuming chief of staff while narrating his life experience recently to Ebira Voice said he came from a very poor family background , coming from poor background was never an excuse for him to play with his academic Pursuit.
He also narrated how he lost his only brother through poverty,said his brother was in the school in Agassa back in 1997, after school closing hours,he decided to move into the bush to plucked some mangoes and cashew around afims Hotel,Obehira which they would eat at home but unfortunately,he was knocked down by a moving vehicle while crossing the road.
” That was how I lost my only brother on the 14th November,1997, I can vividly remember that particular Friday and it’s a day I can never forget in my life”,he said
Pharmacist Asuku further said coming from a poor home is not enough reasons for failure, I had to manage myself throughout my study at Ahmadu Bello University, “even if I’m hungry, I will always read my books especially at nights”.
” I was one of the best grauduating student of ABU during my time, I’m telling you to know how I suffered during my childhood, and also to know that if you are poor it’s not an excuse for failure.
The Chief of Staff thanked the Executive Governor,His excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello for giving him the opportunity to serve in his cabinet and giving him recognition to serve as the Director General and presently as chief of staff.
” Since i lost my only brother in 1997,I vowed that I will continue to help people especially the poor and less privilege ones”,he stressed.
