Chairman Senate C’ttee on ICT calls for promotion of cyber security

In continuation of his tour to federal ministries, agencies and parastatals, the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, under the chairmanship of Senator Yakubu Oseni on Wednesday paid courtesy visits to the Nigeria Financial Intelligent Unit, Petroleum Equalization Fund and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

During the visit, Senator Oseni reiterated the need to promote sustainable and accelerated development of ICT in the country with focus on cyber risks and other related ICT challenges.

According to the lawmaker, the oversight visits and planned conference in October by the senate are geared towards eliciting working partnership in order to adequately enlighten and educate all staff of the federal agencies on ICT and digital technology.

While emphasising the need for the country to keep abreast and be updated in digital infrastructure as obtainable in other climes, Senator Oseni however lamented the lingering threats posed by some people who are bent in turning the breakthrough recorded in ICT to nightmares.

Senator Oseni and his team was received at NAFDAC headquarters by the Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, while the Executive Secretary, Ahmed Bobboi received them at them Petroleum Equalisation Fund.

Similarly, members of the committee were received at the Nigerian Financial Intelligent Unit by the Director General/ Chief Executive Officer, Modibbo Tukur

In their remarks, they commended the senate for the initiative and pledged the total support of their organizations to enable the committee achieve its objectives.
