Court ruling; Attah Igala more interested in the peaceful co-existence of kogi people- group

A socio cultural group in kogi state, Arise Igala Grassroots, has said that the Attah Igala, Dr. Idakwo Michael Ameh Oboni II. was more interested in the peaceful co-existence of the people of the state, saying that the judgement ceding some areas to Igala kingdom was only to set some records straight.

In a statement signed by Onoja J. Okpanachi, President of the group said regrettably in the Channels television report of Sunday, June 14, 2020, the call for peace, unity and proper education of the people by the Attah Igala was jettisoned.

He noted that what the Palace has done with the case and the eventual judgment, was to set the record straight, saying that the evidences tendered did the job and history is being corrected.

Speaking further he said “part of Attah Igala’s statement was chopped off, only to present to the public what is far from what the palace desired leaving out the core message of HRM, Attah Igala which calls for peace, unity and proper education of our people on important aspects of history. What the Palace has done with the case and the eventual judgment, was to set the record straight and thank God the evidences tendered did the job and history is being corrected.

He said, more worrisome is the misleading video that suggests that Attah Igala was celebrating the court judgment, saying that in the real sense, the video was not related in any way to the court judgment as pushed out by the station.

“Painfully, that video clip attached to that report was from a visit of HRM, Attah Igala to Lagos in 2017, an event that is totally different from what the public was made to believe

“Igalas and Ebiras were never enemies; Igala Kingdom has always provided leadership and protection to many ethnic groups of the great Kwararafa Kingdom including Ebiras. So, in setting the record straight, our mission is restoration, peace, unity and progress of the people and the state.

Opanachi therefore called on the management of Channels television to set the record straight, saying that the Attah Igala’s palace holds the station in high esteem.
