
The Provost of College of Education Technical Mopa, Dr Mrs Victoria Olusola Jagboro in Company of the top Management team of the School blessed the office of the Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny with their presence to brief him progress reports on the relocation of the College of Education Technical Kabba to Mopamuro Local Government.
The Provost thanked the Chairman and other Mopamuro political stakeholders for their patience and support towards the actualisation of this iconic citadel of learning (Coetech) in Mopamuro State Constituency, confirmed the readiness of the Management of the School to commence school activities as soon as possible.
In her words, “We want to erase the erroneous notion in the media that the School is a mere propaganda. Mr Chairman Sir, I told His Excellency, former Governor Yahaya Bello when he invited me to his office seeking my consent if I am ready to move to Mopa and I responded in the affirmative that ‘I am ready to go to Mopa and continue the good work we have been doing in Kabba’. Regardless of any kind of initial challenges which the management will face and are of indices to developments and greater achievements” the Provost stated.
She continued, ‘It is true that we are still in Kabba in part but we are no more of Kabba. Although we have some logistics exigency and challenges which we believe is on top priority of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo in consolidation on the good work of the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to be made available as soon possible and he has given his words.
“It is obvious that before we can move down finally, there is the need for the most important facilities to be available such as laboratory, technical workshops and other departmental necessities which of course are already under-way while we improvise for other logistics supports.
Also, the insinuation of the Private Mail Bag still reading ‘Kabba’ on the sign post erected in permanent site, Mopa, this shall be corrected to “Mopa” since Mopamuro has her own PMB when we have eventually relocated and other properties of the school have been relocated to the new host Local Government.
“On this note, I want to assure you that myself and my staff are willing and ready to duplicate and work harder than what we did in Kabba to Mopamuro even in hundred folds with the help of God and the cooperation of everyone in the society”.
The Provost however emphasised the supremacy of prayers in all human endeavours and as such implored all Mopamuro and Yagba indigenes to join her in prayers to bring to fulfilment the proverbial revelation that God showed her in January 1st, 2013 siting Isiah Chapter 62:4-5 concerning Mopamuro Land.
Conclusively, the Provost stated that the two existing primary and secondary Schools (Technical college and Model primary School) shall remain part of College of Education Technical and they shall serve as the “Demonstration College and primary School” under COETECH. Promising “to make it work much more than it is presently that the student who wish to continue in the line of Technical Education shall further their studies in College of Education Technical while others who want to do otherwise can proceed to Tertiary institutions”.
The Alamuro of Amuro His Royal Highness Oba Aiyedogbon who doubles as the Acting Chairman, Mopamuro Traditional Council extended his appreciation to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for regarding Mopamuro LGA with the school (College of Education Technical). He noted that the Caretaker Chairman has been up and doing in the areas of security stressing that the expected cooperation and synergy in all ramifications in the form of self help projects are already in the pipeline to make the relocation a reality. As a seasoned Engineer and a Miner, the traditional ruler recognized the value of Technical Education and Siting one of his professor’s quote wayback in Moscow, “There is no good theory that is better than practical”, His Royal Highness quoted.
The Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Destiny Bello on his part thanked the immediate past and present Government of Kogi State for the privilege given to Mopamuro Local Government in particular and Yagba in general to establish the School on our soil. He thanked the Provost and her formidable team for the visit and on the spot assessment of the existing facilities in the Technical College assuring them that Kogi State Government is working assiduously to make sure every needed facilities be put in place to make the environment conducive for the relocation are put in place.
The chairman also appreciated the Provost, Mrs Victoria Olusola Jagboro for her commitment and vision for the school pleading her to further use her link with Tetfund and other related organisations in complementing the State Government effort in infrastructures and other logistics so as to make the college the best in the country.
More so, in order to encourage his Constituents to take advantage of the new blessing in the land, the Chairman promised to sponsor Five (5) students inform of scholarship per ward through the Local Government Administration and there shall be an enactment to that effect.
