COVID19 : Medical and Dental Consultants challenge governments to prioritize /fix ailing Nigerian Health Sectors

Government at all levels have been advised to prioritize and fix the ailing health sector as further exposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

President, Medical and dental consultants association of Nigeria, professor Kenneth ozoilo at a news briefing in Jos said the nations health system had faced challenges of poor funding, inadequate manpower amongst others.

Prof. Ozoilo who maintained that health personnel were more at risk in the wake of the covid19 pandemic urged government to make available adequate personal protective equipment to hospitals.

The president of MD-CAN called for the provision of more testing facilities and isolation centers by states and urged the public to comply with regulations given to curb the spread of the disease.

Prof. Ozoilo cautioned government on the prioritization of foreign medical personnel to contain the covid19 pandemic in Nigeria, emphasized that the country had a large pool of medical professionals that can be used.

The President of MD-CAN warned against the the harassment of essential service providers by security personnel.

He urged members to continue to render services to the public in a bid to save lives as the disease threatened the very existence of humanity.
