The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Lokoja, has organised three-day workshop on “Ethics and Integrity Compliance” for the management and staff of the hospital.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director CMD) of FTH Lokoja, Dr. Olatunde Alabi, welcomed the participants and facilitators from the Independent and Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC).
The CMD, who declared the workshop open, said it was timely and very important avenue to remind the hospital community of the need to maintain good working ethics and integrity.
Dr Alabi stressed the need for members of staff to abstain from every form of corrupt practices, and commended them for their hard work, saying, “there is never an end to improvement”.
The CMD emphasised that corruption remained one of the major things that hindered the growth of any system.
He pledged the commitment of the hospital management to weed out corrupt practices in the institution in other to maintain professionalism and quality service delivery to patients who access care in the hospital.
The chief medical director commended the Chairman Dr. Joseph Iduh, and members of the FTHL ACTU for their good work.
He assured the support of the management for the unit in its drive to maintaining a corrupt free environment in the hospital.
The workshop had in attendance, members of the top management committee, heads of various units in the department of administration, finance and account, internal audit and procurement unit and other members of the selected units.
The Facilitator, ACS Manniru Muhammed of the ICPC, delivered a robust lecture on the role of ACTU in MDAs and the effect of corruption on MDAs.
Muhammed highlighted various examples of corrupt practices, how to avoid them, consequences of corruption and the resultant effect on anyone caught and prosecuted by the commission.
He enjoined all members of staff to join hands in the fight against corruption in the hospital and their immediate environment.
According to him, the theme for the workshop is ”Forming a Synergy in the Fight Against Corruption”.
On his part, the Chairman of ACTU FTHL, Dr Joseph Iduh, while presenting certificates of participation to the participants, thanked them for gracing the workshop.
He charged the participants to join hands with the unit to eradicate corruption in the hospital, and appreciated the management for their support.
