The Kogi state Government has taken delivery of some relief materials for vulnerable groups donated by the Federal Government.
The items include three trucks of rice and one truck of vegetable oil.
Delivering the relief materials, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajia Sadiya Umar Faruq said Government acknowledged the hardships in the country resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence the need to assist with the palliative measures.
Represented by an Official of the Ministry, Mrs Ojochenemi Nadia Muhammed, the Minister pointed out that the materials would be given to designated beneficiaries.
Receiving the relief materials on behalf of the Kogi State Government, Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja noted that the materials would get to the needy as Government had a database of the vulnerable persons.
He appreciated the Federal Government for the gesture which he noted would go a long way to alleviate the difficulty of the COVID-19 pandemic on people even when no case had been recorded in Kogi State.
