Gov .Simon Lalong has directed total lockdown in plateau state

Governor Simon Lalong has directed total lockdown in plateau state for seven days effective from midnight of Thursday 9th to April 15th twenty twenty.

The Governor who stated this while briefing journalists at the Government House in Jo’s, explained that this is to enable the government carry out a State-wide fumigation exercise across the state in an effort to prevent outbreak of corona virus.

Governor Lalong however said during the period of the lockdown, only people on essential duties would be allowed to move freely.

He disclosed that the covid-19 testing centre in Jos would start operation this week and encouraged people to get tested and know their status.

He noted that results of 48 suspected cases of covid-19 in the state came out negative with 25 discharged from self isolation while 8 people are still under surveillance.

The Governor while stressing that more personal protective equipment were needed, expressed optimism that they would be produced locally.

Governor Lalong appreciated cooperate organizations and individuals for contributing to the state covid-19 endowment fund both in cash and kind and appealed to people to collectively work together overcoming the disease that is ravaging the world.
