Igala Cultural Development Association Postpones proposed AGM in Kogi
Igala Cultural Development Association, ICDA, has called off the proposed 2019 AGM scheduled for 1st August, 2020 at unity house ANYIGBA KOGI State.
This was contained in a statement signed by Hon. Sunday Alikali for Board of Trustees on Wednesday.
The statement noted that the resolution to postpone the proposed AGM was done after due consultation with relevant stakeholders and in the overall interest of the unity, solidarity, progress and development of the Igala people and nation.
According to Hon. Alikali, the meeting before it was recently called off was earlier proposed for April 2020, but was later stalled by the ravaging covid-19 pandemic and the national lockdown and restriction of movement issued by the federal government.
The statement noted that the situation of the above still persist especially for people travelling from high risk state adding that, it is therefore not safe for the gathering of such congregation of people at a time like this.
He said the need for adequate preparation for a meeting of this nature, especially combining it with an award ceremony would be a major distraction to the object of an AGM.
Hon. Alikali averred that an AGM is a serious business for reporting both fiscal and narrative activities in all seriousness.
The statement maintained that, other stakeholders especially from outside the confines of Kogi State have expressed similar opinion in the postponement of the AGM which according to the him should be respected as it represent the opinion of the people of Igala land.
He however appealed to all delegates, respected traditional rulers and invited guest to take this development in good faith
