Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has imposed a 24 hour curfew on Karu local government of the state with effect from six pm on Thursday second April 2020 for the initial period of 14 days.
Governor Abdullahi Sule announced this at the State Government House in Lafia during a press briefing on the update of COVID 19 in the state.
He said the measure became imperative to curb the spread of Corona virus following influx of people to some parts of the state especially Karu due to total lockdown of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Governor Abdullahi Sule said entry into the state has also been restricted to between six pm and six am while people coming in must be subjected to screening at designated points and mobile clinics to ascertain their health status.
The Governor who stressed that markets and shops remained closed except food and medicine stores in the state, noted that movements within Lafia, the state capital would be allowed between 8pm and 6am daily.
He further stated that workers on grade level 1 and 12 should be working from home.
While calling on security agents to ensure full compliance, Governor Abdullahi Sule urged residents of the state to see the measures as collective response towards ending the spread of COVID 19 in the country.
