The Katu Ruling has commended the Odolu Ruling Group’s Selection Committee for doing a thorough job of arriving at an acceptable candidate to fill the vacant stool of the Obadofin of Oweland, describing the process as transparent, fair and credible.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Chief Obarayo Mejegbo, on behalf of the family heads in Katu and made available to newsmen in Lokoja. He said the way and manner the committee handled its assignment shows the credibility of the process.
According to him, Katu Ruling Group is glad to align with the outcome of the selection committee recommending an outstanding personality who has been consistent in contributing to the overall development of Oweland, hence they do not doubt that when finally the recommendation of Chief Julius Arokoyo is approved by the authorities, he will make a good Obadofin of Oweland.
He appealed to others concerned to expedite action on the process that will make Oweland to have another Obadofin in no distant time, saying the selection committee of the Odolu Ruling Group has made the work simpler since the group has zero on one preferred candidate that is a popular choice of the community.
It will be recalled that the Oba Matthew Tolorunleke led Selection Commission has recommended Chief Julius Arokoyoin linee with the Edit 12 of 1995 and 2006 Chieftaincy Law of the Kogi State Government as the most preferred candidate to the stool of the Obadofin of Oweland having satisfied all the requirements as a bona fide son of Irasi Royal Family in Odolu Ruling Group and found worthy character wise. He was recommended in a comprehensive report already submitted to the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council for onward transmission to the Executive Governor through the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for final approval.
