Kogi Assembly promises an improved state procurement process.
Kogi state joint house committee on judiciary and justice and commerce, have promised to ensure a workable procurement law devoid of unnecessary bottlenecks.
Co-chairman of the committee, Cosmas Atabor stated this at the public hearing on a bill for a law to repeal and reenact kogi state public procurement law twenty fourteen held at the assembly complex.
He explained that the draft bill when passed would take care of delays in the procurement process by removing unnecessary bottlenecks.
A legal practitioner, Bamidele Suru said that the old law had poor legal drafting hence the need to repeal and reenact a new law.
He maintained the the new law would be interndem with international best practices.
A veteran journalist, Prince Friday Ogungbemi said a carrier person should be included in the procurement council committee as ot should not be left sole in the hands of politicians.
In the meantime the house joint committee on Judiciary and justice and agriculture has stepped down a bill for a law for the agricultural produce within kogi state and other matters connected therewith.
Members of the joint committee were unanimous in the decision to step the bill down saying the bill was not interndem with constitutionality.
