The Kogi state House of Assembly has summoned the state commissioner for Education science and technology, Wemi Jones to explain reasons why public schools principals were still requesting students to pay WAEC fees after Governor Yahaya Bello has paid for the exam.

The summon followed a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the member representing kabba – bunu state constituency Seyi Bello on the floor of the house.

He said that it was surprising that students were asking their parents for the fees when the governor had released the money for the exam before the governorship election in the state.

Seconding the motion the member representing Lokoja one , Bin-Ebaiye Shehu Tijjani said when he inquired from a principal why they were still asking students to pay for the fees explained that the schools were yet to receive the money as such wanted the students to pay and when they get the fees from government a refund would be made to the students..

The speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf in his ruling said the governor had released the exam fees to the ministry and a comprehensive list was also sent to the governor so he wondered why the principals should be asking for WAEC fees from the students.

He directed the Clark of the house to write the commissioner for Education science and technology Wemi Jones to appear before the house tomorrow to shed more light on the matter.
