Kogi Assembly to investigate Dangote Cement, others establishment

Kogi State House of Assembly is to investigate issues sorrounding the establishment of Dangote Cement Company and other companies in the state.
Moving an oral motion of urgent importance, the speaker of the House, Rt Hon Mathew Kolawale urged the House to undertake a proper investigation to ascertain if proper channels were undertaken in the establishment of Dangote Cement and many other industries in the state.
Rt Hon Kolawale said there was the urgent need to investigate the establishment of many industries in the state since there are no clear cut documents to clearly prove that the right steps are taken in the establishment of many industries in the state.
Supporting the motion, the member representing Lokoja I, Hon Tenimu Musa said if there was due process in the establishment of many industries in Kogi State, the state internally generated will improve.
Hon Musa also said many Kogi youths remain unemployed because most of the companies operating in the state are not connected with the problems of the people of the state. He therefore supported the motion caling for an investigation on the establishment of many companies in the state.
When the motion was put to vote, the House unanimously voted for an urgent adhoc committee to be set up to investigate the matter.
The Speaker immediately set up a seven member adhoc committee to be headed by Hon Tenimu Musa Lokoja I Constituency.
The committe is to invite the commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Directors of the ministry of Commerce and Industry including that of the Solid minerals for proper investigation to be carried out.
