The Kogi State Director General, Special Task Force on illegal smuggling of fire arms and other related offences Elder Friday Sani Makama has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for putting Kogi State first against form of ethnic, political or religious colouration.
Elder Makama gave the commendation on Saturday when Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State attended the burial ceremony of Late Chief Ali Okwoli, the father of former Kogi East senator, Attai Aidoko Ali.
The event was held at Ugbamaka Igah in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi state.
The APC chieftain said he was not surprised that thousands of people trooped out across the three Senatorial district to welcome Governor Bello who they described as their illustrious Son for his impacts to humanity.
Elder Makama, who had been on ground for days to ensure the smooth arrival of the number one citizen of Kogi State described Governor presence at the funeral ceremony as historic despite his busy schedules to deliver his for the people of Kogi State.
According to him, Kogites should look beyond sentiment and evaluate the present administration led by Governor Bello with positive mind who in the last seven years have succeeded in uniting, promoting and advancing the course of Kogi agenda.
“The entire people of Kogi East and Kogi State in general will forever be grateful to our amiable Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Eleojo Bello for making us smile on daily basis. Indeed, the Governor has reflected the hope of our Youths in Nigeria.
” Before now, no body gave the youths chance to explore their potentials in Governance. For the first time, a young, talented and result oriented Youth was given the mantle of leadership in Kogi State. As the youngest Governor in Nigeria, Governor Bello didn’t disappoint us, but made all the Youth proud.
“His works in Kogi State speaks for himself. No wonder, since he came on board, Kogi State was no longer a breeding place for criminals unlike what was seen in the past. Kogites sleeps with their two eyes closed, and our Youths are not on the street since they have been fully engaged with one form of empowerment and the other.
” I am really proud to be part of history in Kogi State as the Governor out is magnanimity appointed me to head this exotic position as the Kogi State Director General, Special Task Force on illegal smuggling of fire arms and other related offences. I am highly honoured and will continue to serve the Government of Kogi State in my full capacity”.
Speaking earlier at the funeral ceremony of Late Chief Ali Okwoli, the father of former Kogi East senator, Attai Aidoko Ali, Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello
emphasized the importance of emulating Ali Okwoli’s exemplary life, which was marked by good traits, and encouraged citizens to unite against divisive forces.
Describing the late Chief Ali Okwoli as a man who led a fulfilled life across all aspects, Governor Bello urged people to adopt the commendable qualities that set him apart, making him deserving of celebration both in life and death.
The governor attested that Olamaboro, and by extension Igala land, holds a special place in his heart, always feeling like home. He urged people to overcome differences that hinder progress and instead embrace unity, which could lead to greater achievements for the state and its residents.
The governor stressed the unity of Kogi state, stating that tribal differences shouldn’t divide them.
He highlighted the state’s abundant natural, mineral, and human resources, cautioning against allowing trivial matters to create divisions that would prevent them from benefiting collectively.
Under his leadership and with a united purpose, Governor Bello stated he had stood against intruders seeking to exploit the state’s resources selfishly. He emphasized that a continuity government would ensure Kogi remains united against such invaders, enabling the people to fully enjoy the blessings bestowed upon the state by God.
In his remarks, former lawmaker representing Kogi East Senator Attai Aidoko commended Governor Bello for honouring his father funeral, stressing that, he has continued to hear positive stories about the Governor.
He pledged his loyalty to Governor Bello adding that, the people of Olamaboro Local Government will forever remain grateful for his good work in Kogi State.
Late Chief Ali Okwoli died at the age of 83.
