The Kogi State Government says it has not began the Kogi Open Governance and Accountability System, KOGAS, because it is the policy of the present administration not to spend monies not appropriated.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo stated while defending the 2021 budget of his ministry at the kogi state house of assembly in lokoja.
He said KOGAS was a beautiful initiative that is aimed at forming a symbiotic relationship between the people and Government as well as ensure accountability and transparency
He however said that as good as the project is, Government was conscious of its fiscal responsibility to ensure it doesn’t spend Government money without appropriation.
The commissioner maintained that Governor Yahaya Bello was committed to the projects that would ensure probity in public finances such as the Confluence Business Directory and the zero paper archive.
Speaking during the defense, the Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Information, Strategy and Publicity, Jimoh Musa commended the Ministry for excellent performance and assured that the Committee would continue to support the ministry.
He noted that there was need for the ministry to forward a Bill, mandating all Government printing to be done at the Kogi Digital and Printing Services.
