The people of Tawari, Kpokpolobi and Biji communities of Kogi Local government area of Kogi State have appealed to the state government to open up feeder roads in the area.
The villagers who were victims of recent attacks by yet to be identified armed men also called for enhancement of the security apparatus within the district.
Speaking when he led village heads, elders and youths on a visit to Governor Bello at the Government House Lokoja, Aguma of Tawari, Alhaji Idris Alhassan sought for the construction of Tawari-Sardauna-Toto and Okpareke-Utu-Umaisha roads to clear the area of bandits and kidnappers’ hideouts.
A Youth Leader, Gabriel Ndazhaga called for the reinforcement of local vigilance groups that would include members of all ethnic groups around the area.
Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello reiterated government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and promised to ensure adoption of community policing in rural areas to ensure security.
Governor Bello sought for calm promising to provide relief to victims as well as arrest perpetrators of the deadly attacks on innocent citizens last Friday.
