The Social Democratic Party SDP has called on the Inspector General of Police to set up an investigative panel to probe the violence between the party and the APC supporters that led to the death of a woman.
The Director General SDP governorship campaign council Hassan Enapeh made the call on Tuesday during a press conference held at the secretariat of the party in Lokoja.
Enapeh said that the allegations made by the Kogi State Police Command that they were not aware of the SDP campaign rally in Koton-Karfe, Kogi local government area of Kogi state was not true.
He pointed out that the security agents that accompany the SDP candidate were deployed from the office of the Inspector General of Police and wondered how the woman killed by APC thugs can be attributed to the SDP supporters.
According to him, the claim by the Kogi State Police Commissioner that the SDP candidate Murtala Ajaka was invited for questioning was also not true , noting that there was a subsisting court order from the Federal High Court injunction that prevent the SDP candidate to answer any invitation from any quarter including the police and DSS.
The Director General stated that SDP and its supporters across the state have lost confidence in the activities of the security agencies in the state toward the conduct of governorship election in Kogi state.
He appealed to the national assembly and the Inspector General of Police to beep its search light in the current situation in Kogi state , maintaining that the forthcoming election is about Kogi state and that SDP has the people.
Reacting , Kingsley Fanwo said
“It is natural that killers get confused after killing because of the sacred nature of human life. We can understand Muritala Yakubu Ajaka’s confusion and delusion right now. But he must pay for his sins.
“His macabre dance on the grave of an innocent woman won’t save him. He has murdered sleep and has a date with the rule of law.
We won’t glorify him with any serious response” he stated
