Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly has admonished Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria and particularly in Kogi State to use the occasion of this year’s Ramadan to pray for both the Nation and the State.
He said it is another Ramadan, the special month of Du’a ( supplication) and Dhilkr (Allah’s remembrance), the month of zakah and sadaqah ( giving to the poor and charity) and the month of Qiyamul-Layl standing in the night for prayers.
He urged all Muslim faithfuls as they observe this year’s Ramadan to ensure that they pray fervently for an end to the covid-19 challenge bedevilling the world at this time.
He said though the state is yet to record any case, collective prayers during the Holy Month of Ramadan will go a long way to remove the deadly pandemic from our land.
He called on well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to reach out to the less privileged in the society especially our Muslim brothers and sisters that are fasting to cushion the economic effects of the Convid-19 lockdown.
He charged them to adhere strictly to the rules of keeping social distance of at least 2meters, washing of hands with soap and sanitizing of hands regularly, promoting personal hygiene and wearing of masks to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus.
