Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State Chapter, has felicitated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Kabir celebration just as it urged Nigerians to embrace peace and sacrifices which are the hallmarks of the period.

A statement signed by the CAN Chairman, Bishop STG Adewole, on Tuesday in Ilorin, said people are alive today not by power nor by might, but by the grace of God to witness this year’s celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir.

CAN joined Muslims in commemorating the values of sacrifice, love, and obedience that the celebration represents.

It called on Muslims in Kwara State to use the opportunity of the Festival to pray faithfully for continued peace, harmony, unity, progress, for selfless brotherhood among all the citizens of the State and the Nation, without prejudice to the religion individuals may belong to or “the faith we may be holding”.

It also called on all Nigerians to pray for the leaders and for God’s guidance and wisdom as they steer the affairs of the Nation.

It felicitated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Ilorin and all Muslims on the auspicious occasion, wishing them all Happy Sallah celebration.

It charged the people to pray for the Governor for God to endow him with wisdom, knowledge and understanding; to continue to guide the Governor’s life path as he pilots the affairs of Kwara State.

The CAN leader also restated the body’s commitment to promoting religious harmony, peaceful coexistence and the spirit of brotherliness among all Nigerians.

“Let us continue to remember to take the peace, development, growth, sustainability and prosperity of the State as our collective responsibility,” CAN stressed.

“As we celebrate this year’s Festival, let us continue to pray to the Almighty God to spare our lives and give us good health, among others, to enable us witness and participate in the many Eid el-Kabir Festivals ahead.
