Amidst the transmission of the bill to establish Kogi State University Kabba in Kabba/Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, to Kogi State House of Assembly for passage into law, Hon Olawumi lend his voice to a bill submitted by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello which bothered on Honour/Award to some deserving Kogi State citizens.
In his submission, Honourable Olawumi who represents Mopamuro State Constituency while thanking the Executive Governor of Kogi State for the gesture, posited that such honour will spur indigenous people of the State to distinguish themselves in exemplary characters which will largely contribute to the growth of our dear State.
Permit me to sight an example to butress my submission while i quote Alh Usman Ododo of APC Candidate (the incoming Governor of Kogi State come November 2023) when he visited His Excellency, Clarence Olafemi. He said and I quote “in the reign of Clarence Olafemi as the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, he passed a bill into Law for the Office of Auditor General for Local Government where I served meritoriously before resigning to vie for the number seat of the State,” Hon Olawumi submitted.
I so appeal to my Honourable colleagues to consider the bill and give it accelerated passage, in order to enable Kogi State Government to honour the aforementioned names from my Constituency and many more, amongst which is 6th Assembly member that represented the good people of my Constituency Hon Sunday Pedro Abayomi who singlehandedly sponsored Nine (9) bills as mentioned by the Deputy Clerk of the House in the course of the 8th Assembly introductory session. The record is yet to be broken! I therefore appreciate Mr Speaker for this opportunity to so support this noble bill, Honourable Olawumi expressed.
