Lokoja Local Government APC Crisis: Kogi APC Panel Clears Maikudi Bature Of Alleged Fraud, Declares Him Not Guilty

The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has stated that it’s panel has investigated the Lokoja Local Government party chairman, Alhaji Maikudi Bature, of all sundry grave allegations against him and the panel has given him a clean bill over the allegation of abuse of office.

The panel equally cleared Bature of all alleged corrupt enrichment.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the Kogi State Chairman of the party, Hon. Abdullahi Bello.

The party also said it has pleaded with Bature to hence forth endeavour to maintain peace and cordial relationship with all LGA executives for the good of the party.

The party further said, “all members of the party should accord Bature every honour and respect you give to all our leaders.

The letter addressed to Bature by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, reads in parts:

“We refer to the above matter wherein allegations bothering on gross misconduct, financial misappropriation and a use of office were made against you and the subsequent setting up of Disciplinary Committee of Seven-Members by the state APC chairman to probe the allegations, in line with the relevant sections of the constitution of our great party.

“The Panel, after several sittings/celebrations and hearing from the petitioners and yourself, wish to state as follows:

1. The Panel in its submissions found that the petitioners did not follow due process in their actions and your subsequent suspension.

2. The allegations were not substantiated with proofs and evidences beyond reasonable doubt.

3. The Panel found your defences on the allegations acceptable and resolved to exonerate and declare you not guilty of the allegations.

4. Arising from the above, you are to hence forth endeavour to maintain peace and cordial relationship with all your LGA Executives for the good of the party.

Recall that, soon after the November 2019 governorship election, a few members of the local government executives alleged Bature of gross misconduct, Financial misappropriation and Abuse of office and thereby petitioned the State Executive Council of the party for onward investigation.
