Lokoja Local Government APC Warring factions reconcile

AheadĀ of yet to be announce date for Local Government election in Kogi State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lokoja Local Government Chapter has reconciled the internal wrangling among members which has led to division in the party.

It would be recall that the leadership of the party, led by the state Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello cleared the embattled Local Government APC, Chairman Hon. Maikudi Bature of allegations bothering on gross misconduct, financial misappropriation and a use of office brought against him by 21members of the LG Executive of the party in November last year.

The warring factions today held an harmonised and peace meeting under the leadership of member representing Lokoja 1 constituency, Hon. Isah Tanimu Umar.

The meeting which was the second since the Chairman was cleared by a seven- man panel setup by Abdullahi Bello agreed to foster peace and unity within the APC before and after the council election.

At the peace meeting which took place at the party secretariat in Lokoja and attended by members from the two factions, it was unanimously agreed that Hon. Maikudi Bature remains the APC,Lokoja Local government Chairman and appealed to members of the executives to close ranks by uniting members of the party in the area.

“As one family we are bond to agree and disagreed,today is historic as we overcome the lingering crisis that bedeviled our party.

I want to use this auspicious occasion to congratulate all of us because this is a fight that witnessed no victor,no vanquished” the lawmaker said.

In his our remarks, Bature thanked the leadership of the party for their quick intervention and promised to carry all and sundry along.

The meeting was attended by all the local government executives of the party and their counterparts from the ten wards.

Recall that, soon after the November 2019 governorship election, a few members of the local government executives alleged Bature of gross misconduct, Financial misappropriation and Abuse of office and thereby petitioned the State Executive Council of the party for onward investigation.
