A BLUE PRINT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOPAMURO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA :
HEALTH

HEALTH, they say is wealth! If you desire a well developed nation, invest in health. No wonder, Health is one of the high spenders on the nation, state and local government budget annually.
Governor yahaya Bello New Direction administration believes in developing this sector, hence the recent award for the construction of referral hospitals in okene, idah and isanlu.
At the local government level under my watch in mopamuro local government area as the executive chairman, Health department will not just be an agency for immunisation only as the case is presently, but complete health care delivery.
It’s unfortunate, that, those at the planning echelon of the department allowed politics to overwhelm their realicism. Otherwise, why would a healthcare centre be sited far away from people it’s meant to serve. I can count at least 5 such facilities wasting away in mopamuro.
The one at Ayede Amuro is heart breaking. It was constructed to serve the people, but had been recaltrantly unused over time.
So are others sited in the the bushy cemetery road at okeguru, ward 1 and ileloke, Adogbe ward 2. These are monumental waste.
The state government must be called to intervene before they are completely pilfered as is the case right now.
Am surprised that, head of the local government area in mopamuro sees this wasting projects and close their eyes.
Under my chairmanship, this health centers scattered around mopamuro would be specialised. Instead of wasting away, I shall liase with necessary agencies in the state to change these variously abandoned health care centers to specialize units. For example
1. Eye clinic
2. Pediatric and gynecological centre
3. Old people care center. (this centre will take care of ailments associated with ageing)
4. Out patient clinic
5. Clinical with capacity to admit patients.
6. Exclusive immunisation center.
They will all be departmentalised and referral services shall be made available for patients to visit each center within the LGA for a particular ailments.
Also, as we have the monthly immunisation days for the infants and toddlers, I shall establish by the Grace of God, check up days for the adults and the elderly monthly.
Free Medical Centers shall be announced for each ward monthly at one of the specialised health center with basic drugs given.
If private individuals do this often through NGOs ,I wonder why the LGA cannot do it too. I remember organising one for my ward while I was the supervisor for education in mopamuro local government. It cost me little ! Little, i said because, the passion and will subsumed whatever cost I incured.
No doubt about that, mopamuro local government area have very dedicated and well qualified health workers, but with me as the executive chairman, they should be ready for training and seminars to update them with Modern Family healthcare delivery system.
And like I will always say, it’s not impossible until you try. Where there’s a will there’s a way!
