YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND
EMPOWERMENT
WHEN best is the time to talk about YOUTHS than an auspicious day like this, when a very youthful governor, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello is marking his 45th birthday.
Alh. Yahaya Bello, has proven the general acceptability of the wisdom therein in youthful exuberance and rascality in the face of nation building, particularly in a society build on radicalised foundation as a result of struggle for independence, and freedom.
In every political activities or struggle, the youths are both the target and the means towards attaining a political target. Hence, the establishment of a youth wing of every struggle.
They own tomorrow as the going says. Hence, they are the target of a better tomorrow.
When their destiny is placed in their own hands, the elders have no Choise but to seat down and watch where event tilts.
Alh. Yahaya Bello had been in charge for the past 5years now, the elders are out there watching with awe, the manner and ways, the governor is repositioning the state. It’s left for the future to vindicates or validates his efforts. The future in this regard are the, YOUTHS.
Therefore, I, as the executive chairman of mopamuro local government area, the new direction agenda for youths continues.
There shall be brilliant programs for the youths particularly in the areas of :
1. Education
2. Employment
3. Empowerment
4. Vocational training and
5. Re-indoctrination towards living a positive life.
EDUCATION
The Bible and Quran harps on the need to train up a child in the way that he should follow, so that when they grow up, they shall not depart from it, and they shall give you rest.
However, the place of education in our society has diminished. Our youths, no more accord education a priority. They end up on the street doing join man job in the forest as timber laborers in a bid to make daily stipends.
They do drugs and alcohol with all form of vices. These must stop. And it starts with our homes.
Mopamuro local government area under me as the executive chairman, shall encourage our youths to go back to school. A bye-law will be made banning children selling items on the street during school hours. They should be in school.
Primary education in all our schools are virtually free. They shall be strengthened with the LGA paying for their basic school examination and common entrance.
Issuance of free school Uniforms shall continue.
Our undergraduates in categorised arrangement shall be made to enjoy palliatives from the LGA from time to time. This could be in cash or kind.
Schorlarship schemes shall be introduced to undergraduate students of mopamuro origin . This scheme will however be base on performance, to encourage competativeness among our students.
There shall be various competition among schools starting with the chairman sport competition, and chairman essay writing competition in which the winning pupil /student and their school will win enchanting gifts.
Every school holidays under my watch shall be school time, as lessons shall be organized for our children.
Indeed it is going to be a very memorable journey in education with me as the chairman.
EMPLOYMENT
The youths will be properly engaged in various activities across the 10 wards.
As the executive chairman of mopamuro local government area, each ward shall present a minimum of 20 youths under the ages of 30 years to be engaged as a supplement to the YESSO program of the state to help maintain our roads, drainages and bushy parts. They shall be placed on stipends monthly.
Establishment of new places of work as I enumerated in my earlier series will create salaried job to many of them.
The LGA shall work in conjunction with other state officials from the local government to lobby for employments. No doubt, it promises to be really exciting.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND RE-INDUCTRINATION.
Like I said in my previous post, there should be a paradigm shift from emphasis on absolute schooling. Vocational training programs shall be incorporated into our school curriculum from primary school to secondary. This is most important to catch up with the latest trends. This will properly equip our children to face future challenges.
Youth will be linked up with ITF and other vocational centers for training after which they shall be equipped with machineries to work with.
Our youths must be re -orientated to be more focus and purposeful with their lives rather than living on scrubs for survival. They must be encouraged and educated to be self reliant rather than waiting for politicians to use them as thugs while being given stipends which can’t build a future for them.
These lofty concepts appears really ambitious and expensive, but it existed in the past and very successfully done by our leaders. All it needed to be done is re-enact that spirit and zeal which I, oloke Jesse Abayomi is promising to do, of course with the support of the people who have the same passion for the development and growth of our community.
