New Kogi varsity in Kabba gets NUC approval

– as Kogi Assembly Speaker accompanies Gov Bello to commission for the purpose

The National Universities Commission, NUC, has given the nod for the government of Kogi State to float a new University, the Kogi State University, Kabba.

The approval was given today, Monday 26th June, 2023 when the speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf accompanied the Governor and members of the committee set up by Kogi State Government for the purpose of the university’s establishment to the commission headquarters in Abuja.

Kogi State University, Kabba has therefore become the 62nd State-owned and 265th university recognised in the Nigerian University System.

The officials led to the office of the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Abdulrasheed Adamu also include other top government functionaries.

Recall that the State House of Assembly, ably led by the Rt. Hon Yusuf had submitted the new university’s law passed by the legislature on Friday, 23rd June, 2023 to Governor Bello who immediately assented to it and promised to be at the NUC for the commission’s approval.
