Open Letter To EDHA Speaker: Why You Must Begin Impeachment Proceedings Against Obaseki By Omo-Ikirodah.

The Honorable Victor Edoror
Speaker EDHA.
Rt Hon. Speaker,

Please forgive me since I have decided not to echo the round of congratulations that you have been receiving since your well-deserved emergence as the Hon Speaker Edo State House Of Assembly.

I guess you would probably be tired already from the multiple good wishes.

I am writing to you with a sense of considerable urgency on the need for the Edo State House Of Assembly to begin impeachment proceedings against Obaseki immediately.

Obaseki has violated our constitution multiple times and does not deserve to remain a day further as the Executive Governor of Edo State.

Obaseki’s deliberate attempt to alienate the EDHA members from performing their legislative duties is an aberration and should not be condoned in anyway by this distinguished house led by your leadership.

Obaseki has violated the oath of his office and has broken his allegiance to the constitution thereby declaring open war on Edo citizens.

Deeply worrying is Obaseki’s refusal to inaugurate 14 elected members of the EDHA for close to two years thereby denying their constituents’ quality representation.

At this juncture, I would send my heart warm congratulations to the inaugurated house members and enjoin them to join forces with you to begin the impeachment process of Godwin Obaseki immediately.

Obaseki is accused of misappropriating Edo State treasury and should be made to account for over N375 billion allocation so far accrued to the State.

His company AFRINVEST serves as the consultant on all Edo State financial transactions.

Obaseki desecrated the hollow chamber of the EDHA by personally supervising the destruction and vandalization of Edo State House Of Assembly Complex.

These are more than enough reasons to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against the Governor.

Rt Hon. Speaker, Obaseki’s gross abuse of power should be stopped, our democracy is well entrenched on the doctrine of the separation of powers.

Rt. Hon Speaker, it is, therefore, my desire and that of the majority of Edo citizens that you urgently:

* Immediately set up a committee that will look into the gross misconduct on the part of the Governor.
* The house should immediately write all financial institutions to stop further financial dealings with Obaseki pending the outcome of his impeachment proceedings.

Rt. Hon Speaker, I look forward to your timely and positive response and action on the issues that I have brought to your attention.

Respectfully,
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah.
