he umbrella organisation of indigenes of Oro-Ago community in the Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state, Oro-Ago Development Union (ODU), has debunked media reports that the killing of three suspected kidnappers by thunder strike happened in the community.
In a statement signed by the National President and National Secretary of the organisation,
Geologist Ayoku Olawole and
Engineer Kayode Dosunmu, respectively, the people said the area is peaceful and nothing of such happened there.
Titled, “Re: Thunder Strike Kills Three Suspected Kidnappers in Kwara”, the organisation said the need to put the record straight became important in order to put the minds of residents of the area and that of members of general public at rest.
The statement stated: “The said occurrence did not happen on Oro-Ago land as erroneously reported by the media
“Oro-Ago Development Union under the leadership of Geol. J. F. Olawole
observed with utmost disappointment the publication of the story by some media houses on the above subject.
“We as a community wish to put the record straight that the authority and leadership of the Oro-Ago Development Union never confirmed the incident as reported by media organisations.
“As a community, we hereby ask that this statement is given wide publicity as a correct version of the story published.”
