The Government of Kogi State under the leadership of Alh. Yahaya Bello has exhibited high level of visionary leadership by creating enabling and conducive environment for socioeconomic development of the State through adequate provisions of basic health facilities, equipments and sound medical Practitioners for the hospitals in the state thereby creating good footing for healthcare delivery across the state.
The current administration in it’s desire to provide quality healthcare services for the citizens established, renovated and equipped primary health care centers in each of the political wards across the 21 local government area of the State.
These health care centers have been serving as the first point of calls in the treatment of sickness and disease that were killing the rural dwellers in the time past.
The Admin of Governor Yahaya Bello placed high priority on Health
as a thematic area of focus knowing fully well that a healthy population is a wealthy population. Within the
last 5years, there has been tremendous increase in the Health Financing Fiscal Space
The State has
witnessed huge investment in Health infrastructure as well as Health work force, the Capacity of the health workers have been built to
improve service delivery along with Procurement and distribution of essential medicines, Electronic data capturing
and tracking system to improve our Health Management Information System. Some of the Key achievements in the
health sector include:
•Establishment of a World Class Reference Hospital in Okene with the capacity to handle
complicated medical and surgical cases in the State as well as promote medical tourism
into the State.
Another milestone achievement of Governor Bello’s administration in the state health sector is the renovation and remodeling of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja
and also the Construction of an Ultra Modern Administrative Complex with two (2) Suspended Floors,
As well Construction of Psychiatric Department.
Equally the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello also embarked on the Construction of two New Ultra-Modern General Hospitalsi n Eganyi Ajaokuta Local
Government Area and Gegu Beki Kogi Local Government Area consecutively.
While the Cottage Hospital Adavi-Eba is also witnessed massive renovation.
It’s also worthy of notes that the administration of Governor Bello extended it’s health care services to the College of Health Science & Technology Idah: Through the.Provision of three (3) academic blocks
and Construction of an ultra-modern clinic,
renovation and Supply of Laboratory Equipment to the institution.
The College of Nursing and Mid-wifery Obangede was not left out
As it enjoys the Construction of Perimeter fencing and school Gate House. Which was followed
With the Construction of 90 room ultramodern hostel still ongoing
The college also enjoys the Construction of a new administrative block fully completed and equipped and after
laying the foundation for a prosperous Kogi State . Governor Yahaya Bello has been able to bring fort whom will succeed him, he has identify two vastly experienced personalities one an Accountant and second is a Teacher who have excelled in their various careers.
Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo and Comrade Joel Salifu to consolidate and move Kogi forward after his administration elapsed by January 2024.
