SENATOR ADEYEMI CONGRATULATES THE NEW VICE CHANCELLOR OF FEDERAL UNIVERSITY-LOKOJA, PROFESSOR OLAYEMI AKINWUMI.

The Senator representing the good people of Kogi West, Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi, congratulates the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University- Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, on his appointment.

The Senator, in a Press Statement released today, described Professor Akinwumi as an erudite scholar, a historian of great repute, and a pride to Kogi State.

Professor Akinwumi until his new appointment was a Professor of African History and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Nassarawa State University- Keffi.

Senator Adeyemi noted that the new VC is a thorough academician who is well traveled, with an impressive record and vast in-depth research work in the field of African History.

Being the first indigenous VC of the Institution, and considering Professor Akinwumi’s wealth of experience, both in academics and in the area of administration, the Senator expressed confidence that the Institution has been committed to the best hand.

He also took the opportunity to appreciate Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for using merit and diligence as the primary yardstick for this appointment, and for creating room for fairness throughout the entire process.

Again, he enjoined both the academic and non-academic staff of the University to work tenaciously and in unity with the new VC to ensure effective delivery of the Institution’s desired goals.

Finally, the Distinguished Senator felicitated with the entire Kogi State at large for having one of their own occupy this prestigious position. He has appealed for prayers, constructive advice and support for Professor Akinwumi in order to ensure that his tenure is successful.
