The Annual Durban race organised by the Maigari of Lokoja has been described as a moment reunion and historical preservation.

Son of the Late Prince Abubarkar Audu of Kogi State, Alhaji Shuaibu Audu stated this in Lokoja during the event which was held at the Maigari’s palace.

Audu said he was greatly impressed by the event which has brought the people together particularly during the celebration of Eid -El- Fitr, which is centred on love, sacrifice and divine mercies of Allah.

He urged the people to keep the age-long tradition which has binded the people together and enjoned Moslems to always live according to the tenets of Islam by loving their neighbors and promoting peaceful coexistence.

He particularly commended the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Abubarkar Maikarfi the third, for his leadership role emphasising that he has been a ralling point for the people of the state.

Speaking on the numerous clamour for him to contest in the next election, Audu who affirmed that Allah is the bestower of power expressed appreciation to the people for recognizing his humanitarian gestures to meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

He disclosed that the NGO he floated has facilitated motorised boreholes, hospital equipments and other empowerment schemes to benefit humanity.

Audu urged the youths to remain a positive agents of the ” change” they desired in life and avoid being trapped by illicit drugs, crime and other social vices.

On the recent killings in Kogi Local Government Area, Audu who commiserated with the family of the deseased urged security operatives to remain focused in bringing the perpetrators to book.
