According to John C. Maxwell, a leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way to success to his followers.
This ability to translate vision into reality is the sterling quality of Hon. Moses Oke Akande, the member representing Ogori/Magongo Constituency in the seventh Kogi State House of Assembly.
Born on the sixteenth of June nineteen sixty six in Magongo, Ogori Magongo Local Government Area, Hon. Moses Akande attended RCM Primary school Magongo for his School Leaving Certificate between 1976 and 1982.
Due to his love for education, he proceeded to Community Secondary School for his Secondary School Education where he came out with flying colours in 1990.
In 2004, Hon. Moses Akande got admission into the prestigious Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Ondo State for his National Diploma in Public Administration. In the same institution, he finished his Higher National Diploma in 2009.
The lawmaker is a man loved by his people, hence his appointment and election into different political offices. They include; Councilor for Oturu/Okpou ward, former Local Government Party Chairman, Kogi Central Party Zonal Chairman.
The rest are, Liaison Officer two, Ogori/Magongo Local Government in twenty twelve while Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello appointed him as Administrator in the same Local Government Area in Twenty sixteen.
Upon assumption of office as Administrator, the easy going, humble and hardworking Honourable Moses Akande set the ball rolling by embarking on projects and programmes targeted at enhancing the well being of the masses.
In the education sector, one thing that the people of the area will continue to remember about the former Administrator is his scholarship programme initiated to equip youths with the relevant knowledge to secure their future.
Also, fifty Ogori/Magongo youths who gained admission into Kinsley College of Education, Kwara state, where offered palliatives in form of accommodation, transportation, feeding and other basic needs aimed at reducing hardship of the students in tertiary institutions.
Students and Pupils of the Area were not left out in the scholarship programme as Honourable Akande also paid school fees of many and provided them with writing and instructional materials.
In the area of health, he has also assisted in settling the medical bills of the less privileged persons in his community as well as supported health programmes in the area.
Honourable Moses Akande due to his passion to make his people self reliant also facilitated employment to for the unemployed as well as youth and women empowerment, distribution of food items, basic essentials and support for less privileged families.
As a grassroots politician, Honourable Akande’s bond with his people due to his open door policy has helped in sustaining cordial relationship, which is a necessity for any leader.
It is obvious that no society can access development without peace, the grassroots politician also promoted peace in Ogori/Magongo by giving security due attention.
Moreso, the area of agriculture is not left out as part of his achievements as he has distributed fertilizers and some farming implements to the farmers.
Similarly, in the area of community development, he carried out opening of access roads in communities in Ogori/Magongo which enable free and accessibility of movement of both human beings and automobile. Honourable Akande is very much accessible to his people, and others outside his local government area.
As the popular saying “the reward of hard work is more work,” it is fulfillment of this adage that Honourable Moses Akande was elected Member Ogori/Magongo State Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Since his assumption of office, Hon. Akande has provided quality representation to the people of his Constituency as his contribution to legislative business in the State House of Assembly has been unprecedented.
In view of the need to compliment the Federal Government diversification effort, the Lawmaker, moved a motion on harnessing the tourism potentials of Ogori/Magongo in particular and Kogi in general.
He has also supported bills and motions moved on the floor of the House for the betterment of the people of Kogi state.
Now that the World is fighting COVID-19 and due to the sit-at-home directive of government, the Lawmaker has reached out to his community with a string of palliatives to cushion the effect of the partial lockdown measures adopted by the state.
As the lawmaker has dedicated himself to serve his people, the constituents must give him the needed support in prayers and by being law abiding. By so doing, the needed development that the people of the area are yearning for will come to a reality.
The lawmaker must see the unconditional love of his people as an opportunity to do more for them in the area of lobbying, quality representation and improved living standard of his people.
By doing these, Honourable Akande would have been seen to have justified his mandate.
