World Teachers Day: It’s not well with Teachers in Kogi State – NUT Chairman
As Teachers in Kogi State join there other counterparts across the world to celebrate this year’s Teachers Day, the State Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comr. Ayodele Thomas says it is not well with Teachers in the State.
The Kogi State NUT Chairman in a chat with Journalists, lamented the percentage payment of salaries to Teachers in the state, says on this special occasion, his appeal is for Government to pay full salaries to Teachers.
He disclosed that there won’t be a nation if there’s no Teacher, decried low level of infrastructure and instructional materials to Primary Schools’, called for an improvement in the welfare of teachers.
He equally said the lack of promotion, cash backing of promotion and payment of other allowances that would have motivated the Teachers in the state he pointed are lacking.
Comr Ayodele Thomas used the special occasion to encourage young people to join the Teaching profession, this he explained would enable the young ones to replace the older Teachers who are retiring from the profession.
The NUT Chairman described this year’s theme of the 2020 World Teachers Day: “Young Teachers : the future of the Profession”, as coming at a better time to motivate and encourage young ones join the Teaching profession, and to contribute there quota to nation building.
The NUT Chairman used the occasion to call on the Kogi State Head of Service to help out with the release of the names of teachers who are yet to be cleared during the screening, said when released, it would help boost manpower of Teachers in the State.
