The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and Member representing Ibaji Constituency, Rt Hon Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba, on May Day 2024 fulfilled part of her campaign promises by giving cash support to members of her constituent. The gift was meant to serve as a palliative to cushion the effect of the present economic hardship on the people.

The palliative was given to the youths, the aged, and the women of Ibaji to mark the May Day celebration.

Represented by her Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Jerry Enema, the Deputy Speaker said the gesture was her little way to touch the lives of Ibaji people and make them feel government presence.

Hon Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba assured the people of Ibaji that she would not relent in championing the cause of development in the area. She said the cash palliative was not enough, but it would solve one need or the other, adding that she would do more to the people in due course.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ibaji, Hon Thankgod Omale, thanked the Deputy Speaker for the gesture, saying it was another new thing from the State number two legislator. Hon Omale urged the beneficiaries of the cash gift to reciprocate by supporting her and the government of the APC under Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Thankgod Omale stressed that within her one year in office as the Member representing Ibaji, she had brought impactful innovations in the state legislation and had endeared herself to her constituents and the state at large.

While urging the Deputy Speaker to keep up her generosity and quality representation, the Local Government party Chairman admonished the people of Ibaji to embrace the politics that would bring dividends to the majority as displayed by the Deputy Speaker.

In their separate remarks, former Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communications, Dr Gabriel Ottah; and the Secretary to Ibaji Local Government Hon Victoria Okolo, expressed confidence in the Deputy Speaker. Dr Ottah said her achievements in the area of reviving education in Ibaji and upholding peace in the area had surpassed those of other state legislators before her from the area.
