Activities marking the 2024 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Council and the Investiture of Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo as Grand Patron of NUJ is scheduled to begin from 16th-20th August, 2024.
According to a Statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the 2024 NUJ Press Week/Investiture planning committee, Comr. Adeiza Momohjimoh and Abu Micheal, the Theme for the 2024 NUJ Press Week/Investiture is; “Celebrating Diversity, Promoting Unity: The Role of Media in Kogi State’s Ethnic Relations”.
The Press Week is an annual event for all working Journalists in the State, provides platform for sober reflection as well as to reposition the Union for effective service delivery.
This year’s Press Week begins Jumat prayers 16th August, 2024 with Jumat prayers, has other line up of activities that includes;
(1) Prayers at the Church
(2) Sporting activities
(3) Visit to orphanages
(4) Environmental Sanitation.
(5) Free Medicals.
The week long program will however be rounded up with the Investiture of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo as the Grand Patron of the NUJ at the grand finale slated for the 20th August, 2024, expected to hold at the EdgeDrive Hotel Lokoja.
The Investiture of the State Governor as Grand Patron of the NUJ would be performed by the National President of the Union, Comr. Chief Chris Isiguzo, MFR, other National and Zonal Officers of the Union.
His Royal Majesty, Ohimege Igu Koton, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu would Chairman this year’s Press Week, while Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi, Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, would deliver the key note paper; Celebrating Diversity, Promoting Unity: The Role of Media in Kogi State’s Ethnic Relations.
