KOGI NMA ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

Kogi State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association[NMA] on Saturday in Lokoja, elected new officials to operate its affairs for the next two years.

Doctor Abubakir Hassan was announced winner in an election that came in form of affirmation as no member contested against him.

Others elected in the landmark election are, doctor Kenvin Osanobi , first vice chairman, Doctor Ohala, Second vice Chairman and doctor Aderami Otunba is to serve as general secretary .

Also elected are,doctor Haruna Omeiza, Treasurer, doctor Fadare Oyebode , Financial secretary, Doctor Nathaniel Peter, Social welfare, Doctor Adewale Abolari Auditor,Alege , assistant secretary,while doctor Aye Samuel bagged the post of public relations officer.

In a inaugural address, the state chairman of Nigeria Medical Association [NMA], doctor Abubakir Hassan, appreciated delegates and critical stakeholders for finding him worthy to service in that capacity, promised to justify the confidence repose in him and other officers

He explained that the Association’s under his watch will soon constitute peace and reconciliatory body to look into the complains of the breakaway members with a view to bring them back into the mainstream.

Dr. Abubakir Hassan added that similar committee will be put in place to carry out holistic view of the handling of the Association’s transaction by the immediate past leadership to fasttrack accountability, probity and transparency to the system.

The chairman lauded the state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo for his administration’s disposition towards the delivery of quality health care to the citizens, stating that, as a doctor’s friendly
governor the Association will not leave any stone unturned to enable his administration attain its health care delivery policy.

While speaking to selected Journalists at the NMA annual general meeting and the delegates conference, a one time chairman of the Association, Doctor Tijjani Godwin Atayi applauded the caretaker committee members for tireless efforts, dedication and professionalism demonstrated throughout the period they midwifed the Association’s activities and rancour free processes that led to the emergence new state officers.

Doctor Tijjani, who chaired the just concluded Medical Outreach Committe held at Okene, which heralded this year’s Annual General Meeting and served as the Treasurer of the Caretaker committe that ushered in the New state officers gave every assurance of the preparedness of Practising Medical Doctors of their unwavering support and cooperation to enable them discharge their functions effectively.

The election of the new state officers was part of activities lined up for the Association’s 2024 Annual General Meeting attracted the presents of her past chairmen, and top medical professionals.
