I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing me as the Executive Secretary, Kogi State Office for Disability Affairs. This appointment is not only an honour but also a significant opportunity to advocate for the rights and needs of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in our state. I am committed to working diligently to ensure that our voices are heard and our concerns addressed.
I would also like to take a moment to appreciate the Accountant General of Kogi State, affectionately known as “Inclusive Mama.” Her tireless efforts in supporting the inclusion of PWDs in sensitive positions have been invaluable. It is through her dedication that we can begin to see meaningful change in our community. Those who do not experience disability firsthand may not fully understand our struggles, but with advocates like her, we are making strides toward greater awareness and inclusion.
Furthermore, I want to appeal to my fellow PWD members to distance themselves from street begging. Our disabilities do not define our abilities. We have the potential to contribute positively to society, and I believe that His Excellency is committed to fully engaging us in his policies. It is crucial that we embrace our strengths and seek opportunities that uplift us rather than diminish our dignity.
In closing, I want to extend my best wishes to His Excellency and Inclusive Mama as we celebrate this success. Together, we will work towards a brighter and more inclusive future for all PWDs in Kogi State. Thank you for your continued support.
Signed:
Hon. Comr. Yakubu Nazir Abdulhakeem (Brain Not Leg)
Executive Secretary
