A Service of Songs was on Monday held in honour of late Mr. Emmanuel Chinasa Nwogu JP who died August 28, 2024 at the age of 68.
The service of song which was part of the funeral events was held on Monday at the family house behind the Apamsede Estate, Shettima, along the old Okene-Kabba road, Lokoja, Kogi State.
In his sermon at the occasion, Pastor Gbuyi Olupitan of the Christ Embassy Church spoke at length about salvation, emphasizing that life is transient and deceptive.
According to the cleric, everyone must work tirelessly to avoid sin at all cost as it is the hindrance to the spiritual race to eternal life, pointing out that many lost out in the race for eternity due to sin.
He maintained that the aim of all Christians should be to run the race for eternal life being the ultimate goals for all believers in Christ to pursue.
He emphasised the need for Christians to make God their dwelling place in order to successfully navigate through life’s challenges.
He added that for Christians to live purposeful life, they must make God their dwelling place, remember their creator and avoid pursuing vanity.
The cleric described the deceased as a man who spent his life time serving God and humanity, noting that Mr. Emmanuel Nwogu was a peace-loving man.
Prominent among sympathisers was the Secretary to the State Government, Pastor (Mrs) Ayoade Folashade Arike who admonished the widow and children of the deceased to take solace in the significant contributions of their patriarch towards advancing the cause of humanity.
Speaking at the service, she said though the deceased might have left a void that would be difficult to fill in the family, she urged them to always take consolation in the fact that their father lived a life of great impact and left indelible legacies.
Mrs. Arike urged the wife and children of the deceased to strengthen their faith in God who upholds the widow and the fatherless, and prayed the Lord to comfort them, preserve them and care for the family.
Other dignitaries at the ceremony were Comrades Adeiza Momoh Jimoh, General Manager, FRCN Lokoja; Mr. Y. J. Itopa, MD, The Graphics Newspaper; Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Prof. Usman Ogbo Salisu, represented by the Director, Public Relations and Orientation, Mrs. Uredo Omale, Executives and members of the Kogi State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, and a host of other dignitaries.
The body of late Emmanuel Chinasa Nwogu will be interred on Friday, 12th October, 2024, in his compound at Umuevu, Onicha, Ezenihittie LGA, Mbaise, Imo State, according to the funeral arrangement announced by the family.
Late Mr. Emmanuel Chinasa Nwogu is survived by his wife and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Mrs. Billy Avoyi Nwogu, and Children.
