
The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba has called for peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups for the purpose of development of the State.
Rt. Hon. Egwaba made the call during the carnival, held at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Stadium in Anyigba on Wednesday organized to showcased the rich cultural heritage of the good people of Kogi East.
According to her, nothing can be achieve under the atmosphere of rancour and crises, stressing that there must be peace, unity and cooperation among the people of the state irrespective of religion and tribe.
“As long as you are from Kogi State we should see ourselves as one. We should unite , speak with one voice and support the present administration led by His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to enable him take the state to another level of economic and infrastructural development” she said.
The Deputy Speaker used the occasion to charged parents and guardians to prioritize the teaching of culture to their children and wards.
The carnival which depicts the cultural heritage of the people of eastern senatorial district of Kogi state also highlighted the beauty of Igala and Bassa culture and provided a platform for fostering unity among Kogites.
Present at the event were the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Elder Joel Oyibo Salifu, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, various top government officials, Igala sons and daughters among others.
