
Kogi Deputy Speaker Calls For Proactive Measures to End Violence Against Women, Children
The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba has called for proactive measures to stop violence against women and children in the society.
Rt. Hon. Egwaba made the call in government house Lokoja during the commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children organized by the office of Her Excellency Hajiya Safinat Usman Ahmed Ododo, the First Lady of Kogi State.
According to her, Gender Based Violence has become a menace affecting the society, urging government at all levels to expedite action to end all forms of violence against women and children in the society.
“When a woman is being violated the society remain unstable that is why the fight against the menace should always be at the front burner of any government. As it is often said ‘no women no nation’ therefore all hands must be on deck to eliminate violence against women and children to enable us have a peaceful society”
The Deputy Speaker however assured that the State Assembly will continue to support any bill that has to do with the rights of women and children, noting that time has come to place women in the right places.
