Kogi Deputy Speaker attends Ovia Osese, Emphasize significance of preserving cultural heritage
The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba attended the Annual ”OVIA OSESE festival” of the Ogori Mangongo Kingdom on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.
This historic event which marked one of the oldest festivals in the region had drawn people from diverse backgrounds, including traditional rulers, politicians, and spectators from Nigeria and around the world.
Speaking at the festival, Rt. Hon Egwaba emphasized the significance of preserving cultural heritage, stressing that “Our culture is our treasure, and we must respect and preserve it so that the future generations can learn from our forefather’s ways of promoting peace and unity.” The Lawmaker highlighted the importance of cultural traditions, noting that Nigeria’s multicultural society with over 250 languages is a rich tapestry that deserves celebration.
The event was attended by notable figures, including the executive governor of Kogi state His Excellency Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo and others first-class traditional rulers, eminent Nigerians, captains of industry and members of the political class, all of whom came to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Ogori Mangongo Kingdom.
