Kogi Lawmaker Promotes Unity, Distributes Wrappers to Christian Women Ahead of Yuletide

The member representing Kogi Koton-Karfe State Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Idrees Aliyu Maikudi, has distributed wrappers worth millions of Naira to Christian women in his constituency as part of activities marking the Christmas celebration.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the distribution, Hon. Maikudi said the gesture was in line with his commitment to inclusive representation and empowerment of all constituents, regardless of religion or ethnic background.
According to him, he does not discriminate on the basis of faith or ethnicity, stressing that Muslims and Christians, as well as people of different ethnic groups within the constituency, are united as one people.
“As a representative of my constituency, I don’t discriminate whether you are Muslim or Christian, Igala, Ebira or Nupe. As long as you are from my constituency, we are one.”
The lawmaker said he personally visited churches within the constituency to distribute clothing materials, particularly wrappers, to women as part of his empowerment programme.
He noted that the beneficiaries were surprised by his visit, as they did not expect him to attend church for such an activity.
He said the outreach covered churches in Koton-Karfe town, popularly referred to as the Gwari Church due to the dominant ethnic group of worshippers, as well as another church in Robomi, identified as Ecwa Church.
Hon. Maikudi noted that the distribution was his way of appreciating the people for their massive support and devotion, describing the items as a modest contribution to help women prepare for the festive season.
“Celebration is coming, so they can use the wrappers during this period.”
The lawmaker urged his constituents to remain patient and united, reminding them that leadership is temporary and that everyone has a role to play in sustaining peace and harmony in the constituency.
