The Executive Chairman of Ajaokuta local government, Hon. Haruna Aliyu Ogido has presented a budget estimate of over Eight billion naira (N8billion) to Ajaokuta legislative council as a blue print for the development and posterity of the local government. Presenting the budget estimate tagged Budget of Renew Hope, at Adogo, Hon. Haruna Aliyu Ogido said the local government will diversify it’s revenue base and safeguard the welfare of her citizens in line with the current fiscal responsibility. He maintained that Ajaokuta will Prioritize essential services, invest in critical. Infrastructures and protect the vulnerable groups in the area. The Chairman gave a breakdown of the budget with Recurrent Expenditure of #5,282,830,710 and Capital Expenditure of #3,556,810,460.
Hon. Haruna Ogido then expressed gratitude to the council leader, honourable councillors, the DLG and management staff for their dedication and collaborate spirit that reflect prudent fiscal management and a bold vision for a better future Ajaokuta local government. He said a total allocation of 7.4 percent of the budget was assigned to Education sector where children will receive quality learning with a good facilities and a social protection package that safeguard the elderly and the handicapped people. The council Boss said the budget aligned with our legislative priorities , promotion of sustainable development, enhancing transparency and fostering inclusive growth by channelling the local government resources into education, health care and infrastructures. He appealed to the honourable house to review the details of the budget with constructive debate to further strengthen our plan that the budget reflect the collective will of the people we are serving. In her speech, the leader of Ajaokuta legislative council, Hon. Jimoh Ayijimoh assured the Chairman that they will give accelerated consideration to the budget estimate to contribute positively for a better Ajaokuta LGA. Hon. Jimmoh Ayijimoh who is also the Councilor representing OdonuOhuege ward, pledged to sustain a healthy and harmonious working relationship with the executive arm to add values to good governance in the area. Performing closing remark, the SSA to the kogi state Governor on Political Harmonization, Hon. Salihu Onde stated that the present leaders of the local government meant well for the local government and prayed to God to give them wisdom to move the local government forward
