Stakeholders and Omala Diaspora Youths Endorse Hon. Umar Yahaya for House of Representatives
Stakeholders and youths from Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State in diaspora have formally endorsed Hon. Umar Yahaya as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference held in Lokoja on Saturday by representatives of the Omala Diaspora and the Omala Home Base. The group described the move as a bold and historic declaration, grounded in the lawmaker’s proven track record of performance and commitment to grassroots development.
The group’s spokesperson, Comrade Muhammed Awal Halilu, stated that the decision was driven by “visible results, tested capacity, and an unwavering commitment to the people,” rather than sentiment or political convenience.
The stakeholders highlighted Hon. Yahaya’s impactful contributions across critical sectors, particularly in education. These include the distribution of over 400 free JAMB forms, the award of scholarships, and the sponsorship of 27 students in various tertiary institutions.
In the area of community development, he was commended for supporting the construction of roads, boreholes, and solar-powered streetlights, as well as improving access to clean water. Several borehole projects are reportedly nearing completion across the 11 wards of Omala Local Government Area.
The group also praised his empowerment initiatives, which encompass skills acquisition programmes in tailoring, ICT, and modern agriculture efforts aimed at fostering economic independence among youths and women.
In the health sector, Hon. Yahaya has initiated the construction of a cottage hospital in Ogudu District, alongside providing farmers with inputs and equipment to boost agricultural productivity.
On infrastructure and security, he was recognized for installing over 50 streetlights, renovating community centres, and funding the construction of the Ibado Akpacha Police Post. Additionally, he facilitated the approval of a security outpost in Bagana, a community considered vulnerable to security challenges.
The stakeholders further applauded his social welfare interventions, including the distribution of palliatives and over ₦7.5 million in financial support to vulnerable residents during the last festive season.
Describing him as accessible, dependable, and deeply committed to grassroots development, the group expressed strong confidence in his ability to deliver effective and people-oriented representation at the national level.
“We hereby declare our total and unwavering support for Hon. Umar Yahaya,” the statement read, while urging residents of Ankpa and Olamaboro Local Government Areas to align with the endorsement.
The group concluded by calling for unity across the constituency, describing the endorsement as a collective effort toward progress, equity, and a brighter future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
