The Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamasi Esuwoye II, has expressed immense pleasure over the emergence of the Speaker of the Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

This endorsement is contained in a congratulatory message from the Royal Palace, where the First Class Monarch conveyed royal greetings and felicitations to the Speaker.

In the message, the Monarch said: “Esteemed greetings from the palace with the belief that you have had a very blissful weekend. Let me use this medium to congratulate you on your endorsement by the President as the candidate and flag bearer of the APC at the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

“We are very pleased with your candidature and pray that you will be successful at the polls and your tenure will bring peace and tranquility to Kwara State. Accept my heartfelt congratulations.”

In another congratulatory message to the Speaker, the Baatonu Christian Brethren Fellowship, in a letter dated 31st May, 2026 and signed by the Fellowship’s Chairman, Benjamin Boni Kperogi; Secretary, Stella Gandigi Sabi; and Patrons Dr. Joshua B. Sabi and Hon. Fredrick Abel, also hailed Speaker Danladi’s emergence as the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The Fellowship described Danladi-Salihu’s victory at the APC governorship primary as “well-deserved and a reflection of years of his selfless service”.

It added: “Your emergence as the party’s flag bearer is a clear testament to your dedication, commitment, leadership qualities, and the confidence reposed in you by party stakeholders and delegates.”

The group also applauded the conferment of the traditional title of Bago of Patigi Emirate on the Speaker by His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Ibrahim Bologi II, the Etsu Patigi.

“This honour is a recognition of your remarkable contributions, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the progress and unity of the people,” the statement added.

The Fellowship extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “recognition, support, and commitment towards strengthening democratic values and promoting capable leadership,” and also to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his “encouragement, confidence, and support which contributed immensely to the success of the Speaker’s aspiration.”

Praying for the Speaker ahead of 2027, the Fellowship said: “We pray that Almighty God makes the victory during the election easy, grants you wisdom, strength, favour, and divine guidance throughout the process. May peace, unity, and joy prevail before, during, and after the election, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

“Your victory has undoubtedly inspired hope and renewed confidence among the people,” the group added.

It would be recalled that Rt. Hon. Danladi-Salihu, who clocked 41 last Sunday, was recently presented to President Tinubu by Governor AbdulRazaq at the President’s Lagos residence, where he received the President’s blessings ahead of the 2027 Kwara governorship election.
