Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin
In a major boost to legal education and academic development, Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun (SAN), has donated law textbooks worth millions of naira to Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU), Ilorin.
The donation, according to the donor, was meant to support the University’s preparation for the commencement of its Law programme.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun (SAN), a renowned legal practitioner, said the gesture was part of his commitment to promoting quality education and supporting institutions dedicated to producing future legal professionals.
He noted that education remains one of the strongest pillars of national development and expressed confidence that Muhammad Kamalud-deen University has the vision and capacity to nurture competent legal practitioners who would positively impact on society.
Responding on behalf of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, FNCS, described the donation as a significant intervention that would strengthen the University’s efforts towards establishing a standard Faculty of Law.
According to him, the textbooks would go a long way in enriching the University Library and providing necessary academic support for both students and lecturers ahead of the commencement of the Law programme.
Professor Jimoh noted that the University remains committed to achieving one of its cardinal goals of promoting the enduring legacies of its Founder, Sheikh (Dr.) Muhammad Kamaldeen Habeebullah Musa Al-Adaby, adding that the generous gesture from Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun (SAN), reflects his commitment to advancing quality education and supporting the growth of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University.
The Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to Chief Adelodun on behalf of the Governing Council, management, staff, students, and the entire University community for the generous contribution towards educational growth and institutional development.
He also prayed for Allah’s continued blessings, good health, and greater accomplishments for the donor in recognition of his outstanding commitment to advancing education.
The donation further reflects the growing support being enjoyed by Muhammad Kamalud-deen University from distinguished stakeholders who share the institution’s vision of academic excellence, innovation, and service to humanity.
Recall that a few days ago, in the same spirit the Kuliyangeri of Ilorin emirate, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN) equally displayed uncommon philanthropic gesture by donating not less than 200 law textbooks worth several millions towards its preparation for the commencement of law programmes in the University.
This further shows the interest of critical stakeholders in the law profession by supporting the University to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in law education.
“We do not take any of such gestures for granted as we look forward for a successful NUC resource verification exercise in few days to come,” the VC said.
